After working for the IRS for several years and then for Ernst & Young, one of the largest professional services firms in the world, Marc Carranza realized he wanted to provide a more personal service to his clients. "I enjoy dealing directly with my clients and helping them attain their goals. I want to keep my firm small enough so that I can continue to provide that personal, direct contact."

He started his own practice in 1992, in leased office space in Wayzata, Minnesota and later in Plymouth. Wanting to own his own office, Marc contacted SBA and asked for the local community development agency. "Scott of CMDC answered my call. He was very responsive and was instrumental in finding Lakeway Office Park and the office condo that we ultimately bought and built out with the 504 program."

Acting as general contractor, Marc subcontracted parts of the build-out to his own clients who provided the needed service. "It was a great way to reciprocate the business that they had given to me, "Marc says. "CMDC has been great. I had heard about the nightmares of dealing with SBA, but I didn't find that to be true, especially with the help of CMDC."

Marc's business has grown to currently serve 280 clients and sixty corporations and non-profits with financial and tax consulting, income tax planning and preparation, IRS representation, financial accounting, financial and estate planning. His IRS experience and Big four level of service without the fees and at a personal level. Marc fosters a relationship not just a tax service.
